ABOUT US
In 2009, a group of concerned individuals saw that there was a great need for a no-kill animal shelter and wildlife center in the southern part of Dutchess County, NY. Too often pets are lost, abandoned, and/or abused by their owners and there are very few option of places to bring them. Unfortunately, most existing shelters are full to capacity.
The future Safe Haven Animal Shelter & Wildlife Center will be an educational and rehabilitation center providing temporary shelter, veterinary care, as well as love and rehabilitation for all animals. Sick, injured and orphaned wildlife will be rehabilitated by NYS wildlife rehabilitators with the ultimate goal of being released back out into the wild.
Our shelter will provide the following services and educational programs to the public: classes in proper care and nutrition of pets, CPR and first aid for pets, dog training, hot to co-exist with wildlife, and a feral cat low cost neutering/spaying clinic in order to help reduce the overpopulation problem.
